Junior Checkers Championships of Turkmenistan kicks-off


At the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat, the Championships of Turkmenistan on Checkers among boys and girls at the age of 12 -16 is kicked-off. The championship will last until February 22, the finals of which to gather the most gifted checkers players of the country.
The Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat is popular among teenagers. On regular basis, the school organizes city championships, national championships and other competitions among youth: in 2018, 19 tournaments were held, where 490 young checkers players participated. In addition to local competitions, last year students of the school participated in two international competitions, held in Moscow (May 9-15) and Georgia (September 23 - October 6).
Upon completion of the current championship, new sports talents will show up. Moreover, it would attract even more attention to the Turkmen school of checkers, which has positively proven itself at international tournaments with confident performances of its students.
In addition to chess and checkers, the national Turkmen game “düzdim”, which gains popularity among children and teenagers season by season, is also taught in the Specialized School. “Düzdim” attracts children with the opportunity to make complex calculations and find out strategies of the game, which develops thinking skills.
