The awards to the best athletes of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2020, which will be hosted by the capital of Japan - Tokyo, will be made from recycled electronic gadgets, according to the Organizing Committee of the competition. This large-scale campaign was supported by the public, including a huge number of local and foreign athletes. The main goal of this project is to attract residents of the Land of the Rising Sun to prepare for this largest sporting event, and also to draw their attention to environmental issues.. To date, the country has managed to collect about 50 thousand tons of unsuitable electrical engineering, including 5 million phones, laptops, cameras and other gadgets. According to the organizers, the plan to collect the required amount of bronze (2700 kg) was fully completed by June last year. Gold extracted is 93.7% (28.4 kg from 30.3 kg), and silver - 85.4% (3500 kg from the required 4100 kg). The project to collect "Olympic" metals, which was launched in April 2017, will be completed by March 31, 2019. Ready medals will be presented this summer.
