Young Turkmen pianist – prize-winner of the International Music Festival in Dubai

Young Turkmen musicians took part in an international festival in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. On February 9, a final of professional student competition organized by the Yamaha Music Gulf FZE Corporation was held in Dubai. In addition to the Turkmen musicians, the event gathered young pianists from Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Morocco, Lebanon and others. The competition was held in two stages. At the first, the students required to submit the audio recordings of their concert performances to pass the qualifying round. In the first round, Turkmenistan was presented by students of the National Conservatory Begench Orazov, Aybolek Atajanova, Kadyr Doliyev, as well as students of the Dashoguz Music College Shaislam Komiljanov and Agadjan Amadov. Ashgabat Music School named after Dangatar Ovezov was represented by Leyla Agamuradova. Following the audition, all of them were awarded with special diplomas of the competition. The performance of the student of the Turkmen Conservatoire, laureate of national competitions Ogulkeyik Hodjagurbanova – a student of the special piano class of Orazgul Annamuradova, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan, docent, was a special one. In the first round, Ogulkeyik demonstrated a remarkable performance of the Étude No. 2 by Frédéric Chopin for the piano, compulsory virtuoso piece for the contestants, as well as the Ballad No. 4 by Chopin and the Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt. It enabled her to win the right to travel to Dubai and participate in the finals of the contest-festival, where she performed the Scherzo No by Chopin. Chairs of the competition jury, outstanding pianists Alberto Nose (Italy) and Hiroshi Arimari (Japan) underlined the talent of a young pianist from Turkmenistan, for which Ogulkeyik Hodjagurbanova was awarded with a special certificate of laureate of international competition. Movenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate with its wonderful concert hall and classes for rehearsals, where new pianos of the Yamaha Company were provided for each participant of the competition, hosted the festival. As a part of the festival, an exhibition and a history museum “Yamaha Music Gulf FZE”, where the latest samples musical instruments and modern audio&video products were presented, have been organized. Among exhibited items, the instruments played by the world famous pianists – Svyatoslav Richter, Denis Matsuyev, Martha Argerich and others – were of particular interest.
