Three “musketeers” from Turkmenistan to compete at the Debut Fencing Championship of Central Asia


Athletes from Turkmenistan will perform at the debut championship of the newly established Central Asia Fencing Confederation, which starts in the Uzbek capital on February 15.
The Turkmen national team comprises of three epee fencers: the winner of the recent Championship of Turkmenistan among cadets and juniors Jumanazar Dovletnazarov, the medalist of these competitions Ilya Shevchenko, and Saparmurat Soyunov.
The first open championship to gather cadets and juniors from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The fencers will compete on these three types of weapons (sword, rapier, saber). The championship of the Central Asian Confederation of Fencing will finish on February 17.
The winners of these tournament will participate at the Asian Championship in Amman, Jordan, which will be held from February 27 to March 8.
Turkmenistan is a co-founder of the Central Asia Fencing Confederation, which unites the fencing federations of countries in the region.
