Moscow and Ashgabat develop cooperation in the field of health
The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation noted that despite the challenging epidemiological situation, cooperation in the field of health between Moscow and Ashgabat is developing. Turkmenistan expressed their interest in purchasing the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the new coronavirus. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Health following the meeting between State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Health Alexandra Dronova and a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Berdyniyaz Myatiev. “The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation on the fight against the new coronavirus infection, in particular, concerning the Sputnik V vaccine developed by the National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Honorary Academician N.F.Gamalea of the Russian Ministry of Health. The Turkmen party expressed their interest in purchasing the Russian vaccine”, the statement says. “Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic video conferences have been organized both at ministerial and expert levels to discuss topical issues in the field of public health”, the press service says. The coronavirus vaccine was registered by the Russian Federation on 11 August as the first in the world. Post-registration trials of the Sputnik V vaccine began on 7 September in Moscow, volunteers received the first vaccine on 9 September, the TASS added.
