Russian National Weightlifting Team to hold training sessions in Ashgabat
The National Weightlifting Team of the Russian Federation, one of the strongest and most titled in the world, would visit the Turkmen capital once again after the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships to conduct training sessions as part of preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
During their stay in Ashgabat, Russian weightlifters will exchange experience with athletes from Turkmenistan, who are also preparing for the Olympics.
At the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ashgabat in November 2018, the Russian national team was fourth in the team event. Tatyana Kashirina (+87 kg), who became five-time world champion, and Artem Okulov (up to 89 kg), who became two-time world champion, won gold medals for the Russian team.
Another favorite is Ruslan Albegov, two-time world champion, bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games.
After the visit of the Russian weightlifters to Ashgabat this spring, the athletes of the National Weightlifting Team of Turkmenistan also plan to hold training sessions in Russia.
