Turkmenistan integrates into the international patent system


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held on Monday negotiations with president of the President of the Eurasian Patent Agency of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) Saule Tlevlesova.
The meeting was held in a videoconference format. As it was marked, Turkmenistan is one of the active participants of EAPO and the first state which has joined its key document - the Eurasian Patent Convention, informs the site of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The minister voiced consecutive actions of the country throughout cooperation and realisation of the Development of the Intellectual Property System of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, aimed among others at the enhancement of the legal basis of securing the intellectual property and its harmonization with the international legislation.

Turkmenistan continues to be integrated into the international patent system in the field of the industrial property and has joined a number of the contracts establishing basic international classifications.
The parties considered the opportunities of expanding the practical cooperation with the EAPO, including the issue of raising the level of proficiency of the national specialists, as well as on the legal matters related to the protection of the intellectual property.
The main task of the Eurasian Patent Department consists in accepting demands and to give out the Eurasian patents operating in the territory of the states-participants of the Eurasian Patent Convention.
