Kazakhstan supports the idea of creation of the Central Asian Women Leaders’ Caucus
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Gulmira Isimbayeva took part in the first session of the Central Asian Women Leaders’ Caucus which took place today in a videoconference format. The action has been organised by the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (Ashkhabad) and the UN Development Program (UNDP) for members of parliaments and representatives of state structures of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, - informs parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan press-service. Having supported the idea of creation of the Central Asian Women Leaders’ Caucus, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Kazakhstan noted an urgency and demand of the similar organisation, especially during the pandemic coronavirus. During the meeting they discussed the issue of prospects and priorities of work of the Caucus from the point of view of the political, economic and social importance for the central Asian states. According to Gulmira Isimbayeva, as priority lines of activity of the new Caucus act a role of the woman in prevention of conflicts, expansion of participation of women in issues of peace making and decision-making processes as a whole. - In Kazakhstan from first days of independence in the policy of Nursultan Nazarbayev gender issues were regarded as of paramount importance. In 2015 Kazakhstan joined the Sustainable Development Goals, more than 80 which % of points is included for today in the republican strategic government programs. Among them is the gaol of maintenance of gender equality and expansion of the rights and possibilities of women, - noted Gulmira Isimbayeva. At the end of the dialogue the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that similar meetings give an additional impulse to inter-parliamentary cooperation and promote achievement of overall aims of development of the region.
