Trade and living standards in Turkmenistan: growth relationship

The investment attractiveness of the country is based, first of all, on the level of financial solvency of a population, which determines the buying activity. The internal trade in Turkmenistan has significantly enhanced given the import decrease in the country. According to the State Committee for Statistics, retail trade turnover increased by 17.2 percent in January-June, 2017. Besides the dynamics of this parameter directly depends on the population income volume, the intensity of domestic trade characterizes the state of the national economic climate. In recent years, the commercial sphere is of particular economic and social importance, significantly contributing to the formation of the gross domestic product. The private sector occupies the main share (more than 91%) in the country's retail trade sphere, and the increase in sales proves the growth of domestic production of consumer goods, the level of competitiveness of import-substituting products. Retail trade is a rather attractive business branch: today, 25,700 of people do business in the trade sphere. In the regional structure of the retail trade turnover in Turkmenistan, Ashgabat currently occupies more than a half - 51.5%. Wherein, consumers give preference to do shopping in the stores of modern formats that provide the high range of goods and necessary guarantees to customers. Over the past few years, many large shopping and entertainment centres and supermarkets have been opened in Ashgabat. There are positive changes in the sales organization: conceptual solutions and nuances of service and decoration of modern shopping centres meet the high European level. Major international brands come to the capital, and local dealers have to work at the level of world standards. At the same time, a chain of corner stores, selling goods at lower prices rapidly develops. Another area includes specialized and brand shops. Credit sales and on-line orders with home delivery become very popular. In general, the trading image of the Turkmen capital has become more attractive.
