These days Abu Dhabi hosts one of the biggest events in the world of football – the Asian Cup 2019, what for the second time in its history the national team of Turkmenistan participate.Ayna BERDYEVA
And while all football fans are closely watching the game of their national teams, ORIENT presents to the readers a list of other expected international competitions in 2019 with the participation of Turkmen athletes.
8-17 February – first international winter sports games "Children of Asia", Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Russia)
The tournament will bring together young athletes in 8 sports: biathlon, skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, figure skating, snowboarding, hockey and short track.
The games, organized by the international Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and the Russian government, are the preparatory stage for the winter Youth Olympic games 2020 in Lausanne.
In addition to athletes, the competition will be attended by about two hundred foreign volunteers, among whom will be youth from Turkmenistan.
20-30 April – the championship of Asia on weightlifting, Ningbo (China)
The Asian championship is a "Golden" qualifying competition that will help weightlifters to get the necessary points to participate in the Olympic games in Tokyo 2020.
Two qualifying stages are behind us – the 2018 World Championships in Ashgabat and the 5th Qatar International Cup in Doha, as a result of which the Turkmen weightlifters increased their chances of participating in the Olympic games.
April 22-28 – Ice hockey World championship, Sofia (Bulgaria)
At the world championship hockey players from Turkmenistan will play one match with the national teams of Bulgaria, Luxembourg, South Africa, China and Turkey. In case of a positive outcome of the matches, Turkmen hockey players will be able to get into the group "B" of the second division in the next championship.
18 - 23 June – the World Cup of 2019 basketball 3×3, Amsterdam (Netherlands)
Another qualifying competition for the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo, which involves the women's national basketball team of Turkmenistan 3×3.
The current Champions from Italy, as well as the national teams of Russia, China, Japan, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Indonesia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Iran, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Andorra and Mongolia will compete with the Turkmen team at the world Cup 2019.
October 20-30 – 25th Asian bowling championship (Kuwait)
Turkmen bowlers are intensively preparing for the upcoming international competitions, using modern professional equipment of the Olympic town.
Before the Asian championship, promising bowling players will perform at the annual international tournament in Uzbekistan "Tashkent Open-2019".
Sambo World Championships, Seoul (Republic of Korea) – dates are not determined yet
The main composition of the Turkmen team will be victors of the recently concluded national championship.
It should be noted that the Turkmen sambists demonstrate the highest skill in international competitions. At the last world championship in Bucharest they were awarded bronze medals in six weight categories, and at the Asian championship of the year in Tashkent wrestlers won 39 awards.
