Turkmen judoists will perform in Tel Aviv at the first Grand Prix of the year


Athletes from Turkmenistan will take part in this year’s first international judo tournament “Tel Aviv Grand Prix 2019”, which will be held from January 24th to 26th in the capital of Israel.
The Turkmen team included the winner of the open championship of Asia-2018 Tejen Tejenov (up to 90 kg), Hakberdi Jumayev (up to 60 kg), Muhammet Kossekov (up to 66 kg), Mominjan Arzykulov (up to 73 kg) and Yhlas Setdarov (up to 90 kg).
Among the judo team there are debutants of international competitions. Participation in such tournaments will give them the opportunity to gain a competitive experience and temper the spirit.
More recently, Turkmen athletes Gulbadam Babamuratova (up to 52 kg) and Batyr Hojamuhammedov (up to 100 kg) shone at the Grand Prix series organized by the International Judo Federation (IJF).
Gulbadam Babamuratova won the bronze medal at the “Tbilisi Grand Prix 2018”, and Batyr Hojamuhammedov took third place at the “Agadir Grand Prix 2018” in March last year.
The upcoming international tournament in Tel Aviv will bring together over 450 athletes from 56 countries - Argentina, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and others.
