Russia highly appreciates the dialogue between the Caspian countries - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in advance of the Moscow meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian countries stated that Russia highly appreciates the friendly nature of the dialogue in the format of the Caspian Five, based on mutual respect. The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasizes that the main thing for Russia is, within the very short space of time, to streamline the text of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea and the further development of a mutually beneficial partnership of coastal states. The Caspian issues were also discussed at a meeting of the government of Turkmenistan on Friday. As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the meeting, issues related to the Caspian Sea are priority for Turkmen foreign policy, which is based on the principles of peace, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation. The meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian countries will be held in the Russian capital on December 4-5 this year. Participants in the Caspian dialogue believe that the Caspian Convention can be signed during the 5th Summit of Heads of Caspian littoral states, which is planned to be held in 2018 in Kazakhstan.
