Rejepbay Rejepov - gold medalist of the Qatar Cup in weightlifting
Turkmen weightlifter Rejepbay Rejepov (81 kg) became the gold medalist of the 5th Qatar International Cup, held these days in the city of Doha, which is an Olympic qualifying competition.
The athlete from Turkmenistan, who took fourth place at the 2018 World Cup in his native Ashgabat, in Qatar became the absolute leader in both disciplines, having successfully implemented all the stated approaches. In total, Rejepbay's biathlon lifted 354 kg (162 kg in the snatch and 192 kg in the jerk), securing a significant lead over his rivals.
Before the tournament, the main opponent of Rejepbay Rejepov was considered a weight-lifter from Armenia Andranik Karapetyan, but in fact the main struggle unfolded between an experienced Turkmen citizen and a young Latvian Ritvars Sukharev. The Caucasian athlete overestimated his strength and failed to cope with several attempts in the “push” discipline. As a result, he has the third place in the sum of biathlon.
Tomorrow, in the weight category of 109 kg in the group "A", another athlete from Turkmenistan Ovez Ovezov will enter the stage.
