Turkmenistan's national weightlifting team will take part in the 5th Qatar International Cup, which will be held from 19 to 23 December in Doha. The event is hosted by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation and approved by the IWF as an Olympic qualifying competition in the bronze category. As part of our national team, Yulduz Jumabayeva (49 kg), Kristina Shermetova (55 kg), Maksat Meredov (73 kg), Rejepbai Redzhepov (81 kg), Ovez Ovezov (102 kg) and Hodzhamuhammet Toychiev (+109 kg) will go to the Cup of Qatar. Of all the achievements of the famous weightlifters of Turkmenistan, the most recent are the successes of Yulduz Jumabayeva, the silver medalist of the 2018 World Cup in Ashgabat, the world record holder among juniors in the discipline of push and total biathlon, and Christina Shermetova, the silver medalist of the 2017 World Cup in Anaheim and the Summer Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta. For our athletes, the competition in Doha is an additional opportunity to score points in the individual standings for the Games in Tokyo 2020.
