The triumph of the Turkmen Paralympians at the American Open Powerlifting Championship

Powerlifters from Turkmenistan Sergey Meladze and Mayagozel Ekeeva won two gold medals at the American Powerlifting Open Championship in the Colombian capital Bogota. Three-time winner of the Asian Paralympic Games, international-class master of sports Sergey Meladze, performing in the weight category up to 72 kg, once again demonstrated his skills. He managed to lift 180 kg, thereby showing the best result of the competition. The two-time winner of the Asian Paralympic Games, Mayagozel Ekeeva, did not leave any chances to her rivals in the fight for the honorable first place. In the competition in the weight category up to 79 kg, she lifted a weight of 112 kg. Mayagozel, a master of sports of international class, is also a gold medalist of the World Cup in powerlifting among athletes with disabilities, which took place at the beginning of the year in the United Arab Emirates. The American Open Powerlifting Championships gathered 155 athletes from 28 countries. This tournament is qualifying for the upcoming Paralympic Games 2020 in Tokyo.
