As a part of the UNESCO International Conference “The importance of the Great Silk Road: Present and Future Development”, the results of the photography con-test called Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads were presented at the capital hotel Yildyz . The competition, held from 11 April, 2018 to 22 July, 2018, and organized by UNESCO and China World Peace Foundation became an excellent platform for young photography lovers from around the world and helped them express their vision of the Great Silk Road. 6 625 young photographers from different parts of the world took part in it. The main goal of the contest is to encourage young people to think about and represent the multicultural heritage of the Great Silk Road and its significance through photography. The Great Silk Road, its historical significance and influence on the region and the whole world, induced young photographers to come closer into the atmosphere of the most famous caravan route. The photographs of the exposition represented both historical and architectural monuments, as well as people – representatives of the local tribes who livedalong the legendary route. The unique local, national features, and common motives that unite the inhabitants of the region are shown. In addition to the UNESCO photography contest, the exposition of photographs by the American landscape painter Tom Thill, dedicated to historical monuments of Turkmenistan and thematic works of Turkmen artists and ceramists, illustrat-ing the history of Turkmenistan, the heart of the Great Silk Road, were presented at the Yildyz hotel lobby.
