Bahraini girls aim at glory of Games “Ashgabat 2017”
Bahrain taekwondo group are ready to perform in the arena of the 5th Asian Games in enclosed spaces and in martial arts, to officially start in less than ten days. In this version of the Korean martial art on behalf of the smallest Arab nation, female trio – Wala’a Al-Dossari, sisters Juana and Jomana Mohammed - will compete in weight categories under 57 kg, 62 kg and 73 kg respectively. They have been trained by coach Tawfeeq Nuwaiser. In Ashgabat 2017 Taekwondo competitions will be featured in two disciplines - Kyorugi and Poomsae and will be held on 18-22 September. 18 sets of medals will be played. Kyorugi is a battle by the rules, maximally revealing all the advantages of attack and defense techniques of two opponents, and it is a kind of test for hardness and strength. Only two athletes will reach the finals, while those who lost to the finalists will have a chance to compete for bronze. Poomsae, called the heart and spirit of Taekwondo, is a fight with an imaginary adversary. Poomsae event will be held on the principle of screening of defeated. The medals will be given to the four best fighters, and those who won 3rd and 4th places will be awarded bronze.
