The steady melting of glaciers occurs through the fault of greenhouse gases that accumulate in the atmosphere due to human activity. Most of this cocktail comes from carbon dioxide - the result of various industries, the use of cars and even breathing. Scientists have long been looking for a way to extract excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. And experts from Rutgers University - the United States State Research University - suggested not only extracting, but also using CO2 in the needs of humanity. Technology for extracting carbon dioxide and its processing is quite simple and cheap. This requires the use of electrocatalysts of nickel and phosphorus - inexpensive and widespread elements. Using water, scientists can transform carbon dioxide and water into carbon structures containing one, two, three, or four carbon atoms — plastic, glue, and so on. Next, scientists plan to find out how justified is the use of technology for the production of hydrocarbons used to create renewable fuels, and what else can be created on its basis.
