Turkmen athletes to compete in the Mas-Wrestling World Championships

Ayna BERDIYEVA Athletes from Turkmenistan Begench Redjepov (70 kg weight category), Atamurat Baltayev (80 kg weight category), Allamyrat Shamuradov (90 kg weight category) and Dovranbek Irimbetov (+125 kg weight category) will compete in III Mas-Wrestling World Championships that started on November 22, 2018 in Republic of Yakutia. Mas-wrestling is the international name used for the Yakut ethnosport derived from the traditional stick pulling game. This kind of sport became known since 2013, when it was registered by the All-Russia Sports Registry (VRVS) in 2003 and has been governed by the International Mas-Wrestling Federation. Recently, there are many athletes in this discipline almost all around the world, and Turkmen athletes have joined the mas-wrestling movement. Turkmen athletes will represent the country as part of the Mas-Wrestling Universe, the World Student League, which was created to promote mas-wrestling among young people. Mas-wrestling is not just a sport, but a special philosophy of physical and spiritual training of the harmonious personality, which regularly increases the number of his fans. The rules in it are very simple. Participants taking part in mas-wrestling competitions sit in front of each other, prop their feet against the board that divides the competition area and tug on a wooden stick (mas), making sure to keep it parallel to the propping board. The World Championships gathered mass wrestlers from 40 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and also North and South America. Athletes will compete in 12 weight categories. Mas-Wrestling World Championships will end on November 26, 2018.
