Uzbek coach prepares athletes of Turkmenistan to compete with Uzbek kurash team
Kurash as a national sport, or rather - folk game has ancient roots. Uzbek historians argue that this kind of marital art appeared on the territory of their country already fifteen hundred years before current era. The mention of kurash was recorded already in the ancient period - in the folk epic, in the works of Herodotus, and in the Middle Ages - in writings of Avicenna and other authors.
However, we see the same picture in the chroniclers of other Turkic peoples with regard to martial arts clones from the category "belt wrestling".
Nevertheless, kurash, although being a non-Olympic sport discipline, is successfully developing in many countries of the world, thanks also to the fact that almost two decades ago an International Association for this sport was established.
Kurash is included in the program of many competitions, including the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the opening ceremony of which will be held on September 17th.
Therefore, it is not surprising that sports authorities of Turkmenistan decided to invite the famous kurash coach Olimdzhon Khaitov from Uzbekistan to train the national team.
And all would be fine, but the national team of Uzbekistan is the main competitor of the Turkmen kurash team.
At the present time the Uzbek couch is intensively preparing Turkmen wrestlers of kurash in Gyokdere, a resort location near Ashgabat.
Conditions for training, as Olimdjon Khaitov said, are the most favorable, the sports leaders of the country provide everything necessary, etc. But the main thing is that the Turkmen wrestlers themselves - both boys and girls are full of the desire to win all the places on the podium in their Homeland.
Dreams of athletic youth are commendable, and coaching assessments of their capabilities are not bad. The fight will include thirty Turkmen wrestlers of kurash - 14 guys and 16 girls.
But will Turkmen athletes overcome their main rivals - Uzbek kurash team?
And as far as the Uzbek mentor was sincere in his aspirations to convey the entire experience of ancient martial arts to the Turkmen wrestlers, the near future will show.
The main intrigue is in the answers to these questions. And we will receive them during the kurash competitions.
The kurash competitions will take place at the Martial Arts Arena of the Olympic town from September 20 to 22.
At least, many fans of the belt types of wrestling, and there are many of them in Turkmenistan, hope that the natural sense of national pride of the coach from brotherly Uzbekistan cannot overcome his sense of professional honor.
