Exhibition of Turkish miniaturist to be held in Ashgabat

On November 13, the State Museum of Fine Arts will host the exhibition The Silk Road of Hasan Kale, Istanbul’s Master of Micro Art. The Turkmen audience will get to know the unique artist who turned everyday tiny objects into something rather extraordinary, and whose highly detailed pictures reveal the world of the East and the history of the most ambitious trade route, which is now experiencing a rebirth.
The Turkish miniaturist Hasan Kale paints on every little object that he finds. Most of these are so tiny that they can’t be seen clearly without magnification, which begs the question – how did he do that!? Therefore, in museums and art galleries, works of an incredibly talented artist from Turkey are exhibited in special cases with a magnifying glass panel.
He transforms a needle, a seed, a butterfly wing or a cube of sugar into a canvas in his hands. Hasan Kale’s artistic canvases include, but are not limited to, peanut husks, split almonds, banana chips, and beans – as long as it is tiny, he will paint on it.
It is a profound love for Asia that propels Hasan Kale to spend inordinate amounts of his time hunched over tiny objects, painting the grandest of moments. On these small objects, Hasan depicts the views of Istanbul, the city that inspires him. The classic oriental themes – the caravan going through the dunes, the trading bay at full moon, or the starlit night over the desert – are also in the portfolio of Hasan Kale.
When Kale began to test himself to see how tiny he could really paint, his micro-artworks were born. According to his Facebook, Kale has set himself the goal of painting a silhouette of Istanbul on a strand of hair.
Residents and guests of Ashgabat can be acquainted with the author and his paintings at the opening of The Silk Road exhibition on November 13 at 4.00 pm, at the State Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition will runs until November 17, 2018.
