Japan and Turkmenistan as peace-loving nations will continue to cooperate for the solution of the global peace and security issues - Ambassador Katsumata
On Thursday, the Embassy of Japan in Ashgabat hosted a reception on the occasion of the Emperor’s birthday. Addressing the guests, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Takahiko Katsumata said: “The government of Japan is introduced the concept of ‘proactive pacifism’ so that Japan could make more positive contribution to the global and regional peace-building efforts (…). I believe that Japan and Turkmenistan as peace-loving nations will continue to cooperate for the solution of the global peace and security issues.” Reviewing the friendly Turkmen-Japanese relations, the Ambassador expressed the hope that the commissioning in the next year of large infrastructure facilities, which are under construction within the framework of joint projects, will be helpful for the diversification Turkmenistan’s economy. These include the GTG Plant, being built in Ovadan depe with the participation of the Japanese corporation "Kawasaki Heavy Industries"; gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in the village of Kyianly (the project involves TOYO Engineering) and the project of the carbamide plant in Garabogaz, co-realized by Mitsubishi Corporation and Mıtsubisi Heavy Industries. In his speech, Ambassador Katsumata mentioned the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, held in Ashgabat in September this year: “Japan will host Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and I am sure that as Turkmenistan has successfully hosted AIMAG-2017, Tokyo Olympics will be a good occasion for us to show revitalized and attractive Japan and its economy to the world.” Touching upon the traditional humanitarian area of cooperation, the Japanese Ambassador noted the financial assistance for the construction of a greenhouse for one of the Turkmenbad specialized schools for agriculture education of children with disabilities. Ambassador Katsumata highly appreciated the participation of Bayramova Gurbanguly, chairman of the Central Council of the Union of Women of Turkmenistan in 4th World Assembly for Women in Tokyo this month. The Birthday of the Emperor is a national holiday in Japan. Since the ascension of Akihito (125th Emperor) in 1989, this date is celebrated on 23 December. Japanese imperial dynasty traces 2600-year history. According to the Constitution, the emperor is a symbol of the state and of the unity of the people.
