Central Asia will become a region of long-livers
The UN experts compiled a demographic projection for Central Asia. According to the data, the region is one of the youngest in the world: the number of elderly people (+60) in Tajikistan from the general population is 6%, in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan - 8%, Kazakhstan - 11%, in Turkmenistan - 7%. For comparison: in Russia this indicator is 21%, in Greece - 26%, and in Portugal - 28%. Life expectancy in the Central Asian countries is increasing. By the middle of the century, this figure will average 75-76 years, by the end of the century - 82-83 years. According to experts, the birth rate in the countries of Central Asia may decrease by half during the century. Now, on average, there are three children per family in the region. By the end of the century, this indicator will decrease to 2 children, which is due to a number of reasons, primarily, urbanization processes. In Europe, where there is an average of 1.5 children per woman, by the beginning of the 22nd century, the birth rate is projected to increase. Researchers believe that the global trend towards the end of the century will be the indicator of 2 children per woman.
