UN Secretary General's Roadmap for Digital Cooperation

The roadmap of the UN Secretary General for Digital Cooperation has been launched. It is based on the recommendations of the High Level Group on Digital Cooperation, created by the head of the UN to develop proposals for strengthening cooperation in the field of digitalization between various parties.
The roadmap, covering 8 key areas, proposes measures to strengthen global digital collaboration. As the world struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic, digital technology is helping to counter this threat and keep people connected.
The roadmap covers the following directions:
1. Ensuring universal Internet connectivity. Only 53.6% of the world's population currently use the Internet. This means that the number of people without Internet access is about 3.6 billion. In this regard, by 2030, everyone should have safe and affordable access to the Internet, as well as to financial and medical services using digital technologies.
2. Promotion of digital public goods. Global efforts to invest in digital public goods: software, open data, and open content.
3. Ensuring universal digital inclusion. Even when digital technologies are available, access to them remains uneven. So, specific strategies need to be adopted to support digital equality.
4.Capacity building in digital technology. It is proposed to create regional and global technical support services on digital technology. They are designed to help governments, civil society and the private sector better understand the challenges of the digital world and develop potential in this area.
5. Ensuring the protection of human rights in the digital space. Digital technologies provide new means for the realization of human rights. The high-level group calls on social networking platforms to collaborate with governments, international organizations, civil society representatives in the field of human rights around the world..
6.Supporting global collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence. Today, artificial intelligence is widely used in various fields. But it can also undermine the security of users around the world. In this regard, multilateral efforts for global cooperation in the field of creating reliable artificial intelligence are needed.
7.Promoting trust and security in a digital environment. The group recommends a global commitment to digital trust and security. This will help to intensify their application, as well as create standards for the responsible use of technology.
8. Global digital collaboration. It is proposed to develop updated mechanisms for global cooperation in the field of digital technologies.
