Flowers were laid at the monument of Mahtumkuli in Kiev


The flower laying and poetic readings took place at the monument of Mahtumkuli in the centre of Kiev. The Turkmen embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine devoted a solemn action to Day of workers of art and culture and poetry of Mahtumkuli marked in Turkmenistan.
In the square where the monument to the great Turkmen poet and thinker was established, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, deputies of the Supreme Rada, representatives of business community, scientific, cultural circles of this country, and also Turkmen diaspora gathered.
Turkmen students trained in high schools of Kiev, Ukrainian writers read verses of Mahtumkuli in languages of their people. Ambassador Toyly Atayev briefly told the gathered about the life and creativity of the classic of national literature in his speech. He also announced large actions which are held this year by Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of neutrality.
The Turkmen-Ukrainian cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian sphere and its traditionally a special place in relations of two states was also touched upon. Annually in Ashgabat and Kiev days of national classics - outstanding thinker Mahtumkuli Fragy and great kobza-player Taras Shevchenko are marked.
Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Victor Mayko who spoke during the ceremony, congratulated Turkmen nationals on Day of poetry of Mahtumkuli and noted his important role in culture of Turkmen people. The researcher of creativity of Mahtumkuli, the translator of many books of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov into the Ukrainian language Professor Nikolay Vaskiv recited patriotic lines from creativity of Mahtumkuli in the Ukrainian language.
