Turkmen and Armenian medics exchange experience on combating the COVID-19 pandemic


The epidemiologists and virologists of Turkmenistan and Armenia held a videoconference on pressing issues in the health sector in general and discussion of measures to prevent dangerous infectious diseases, in particular, the new coronavirus infection COVID-19. The ORIENT was informed about this by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Yerevan.
During the videoconference, colleagues shared information on the preventive measures taken in both countries against the COVID-19. Turkmen medics, having noted that there have been no cases of coronavirus infection in Turkmenistan and favorable epidemiological situation is remained, asked how Armenia combats the pandemic.
Armenian colleagues informed about the disease cases in the country, the principles of management of COVID-19 positive-tested patients, and the peculiarities of management of asymptomatic COVID-19 positive-tested patients. In addition, the specifics of antiviral and antibacterial treatment, the epidemic chain to identify the source of infection were discussed.
Turkmen medics were also interested in the methods and techniques used to protect health-care personnel in hospitals. According to the Armenian medics, they successfully use traditional disinfectants, and across the country, in public transport, in public catering facilities, everywhere – the local disinfectants can be found and which is widely used by the country’s population.
In addition, the representative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia has showed a presentation on the COVID-19 up-dates, on outpatient and inpatient treatment protocols in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
