Turkestan and Yunusabad - new stations of the Tashkent metro

The Tashkent metro was replenished with two new stations - Yunusabad and Turkestan. The first metro in Central Asia was built in Tashkent in 1977. Today it includes three lines and 29 stations.
Yunusabad (green) metro line was commissioned in October 2001. It leads to Yunusabad, one of the most densely populated areas in Tashkent. The opened stations supplemented the Yunusabad metro line.
The new Turkestan station is equipped with electronic turnstiles and monitors, and the 100-meter platform, including massive columns, is decorated with white marble slabs. One side of the walls at the station depicts the historical sights of the Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The opposite side shows the cities in Uzbekistan - Bukhara, Samarkand, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Jizzakh and Syrdarya. There are also mosaic paintings of historical mausoleums and shrines of Tashkent and the Ferghana Region.
