Turkmenistan to take part in the international festival of tribal cultures in Iran


From 20 to 28 November 2018, Iranian Northern province of Golestan will host the 12th International festival of Tribal Cultures. The leitmotif of the forum "Unity between tribespeople” reflects ethnic diversity in the demographic composition of the region.
Delegations from Turkmenistan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Iraq are among the traditional participants of the multinational holiday, which brings together diplomats, officials in charge of the sphere of culture, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, folk groups, craftsmen.
The first stage of the festival will be held from 20 to 23 November in the administrative center of the province - Gorgan, and the second part will be hosted the city of Gonbad-e Qabus.
The festival program includes the shows of regional arts, souvenirs and handicrafts, numerous workshops, and concert performances.
Guests of the festival events will get acquainted with the best culinary traditions and tourist opportunities of Iran and neighboring countries.
Gonbad-e Qabus are a tourist visiting card of the province of Golestan. The city is a home for 55-meter brick tower-tomb of the sultans of the Caspian Iran, built more than a thousand years ago. In 2012, this monument became UNESCO World Heritage site.
Moreover, the ancient city is famous with carpet craft.
More than half of the population of Gonbad-e Qabus are Turkmens, who are skillful carpet-makers. Last year, the city was registered in the list of national sites of Iran as the center of Turkmen carpet weaving. And recently, the authorities of the Golestan province started the process of entering the city into the UNESCO World Heritage list for its Turkmen rugs.
