UAE resumes transit flights and donates half a million COVID-19 testing kits to WHO


The UAE will allow transit flights to pass through its three international airports, as the country slowly begins to lift restrictions and emerges from coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic paralysis. According to the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority, comprehensive measures has been put in place to protect passengers and airline staff at every stage of their journey.
It is noted, transit flights will resume at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah international airports and will be served by the national air carriers Etihad, Emirates, Flydubai and Air Arabia, The country’s airlines are due to unveil flight schedules and other details, including safety procedures, in coming days. However, a date of transit flights resumption is yet to be announced. At the same time, in UAE, inbound and outbound passenger flights remain suspended until further notice.
As of now, only repatriation flights for residents and tourists who want to return home and some inbound flights for UAE residents who couldn’t flight back as the UAE closed airspace for all flights to and from country in March are in operation.
The United Arab Emirates also announced that it had donated USD 10 million worth of COVID-19 testing kits sufficient for 500,000 people to the World Health Organization. To date, the UAE has responded to the COVID-19 crisis by providing over 714 tons of medical aid to 63 countries in need, WAM News Agency reports.
