Russian gas supplies to Turkey are falling


Russia’s share of Turkey’s blue fuel imports decreased from 52% to to 33% in 2017-2019. Anadolu Agency informs it citing to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK). According to the EPDK, greater natural gas price competition and the increased share of renewables resources in energy production have seen the reduction of Russia’s share of Turkey’s natural gas imports. In 2017, Russia’s share of Turkey’s natural gas imports decreased was 52%. Russia sold 28.690 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey. In 2018, Russia exported 23.642 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey (47%). In 2019, Turkey imported 45.205 billion cubic meters of natural gas , out of which Russia supplied 15.191 billion cubic meters. Thus, Russia’s share of Turkey’s blue fuel imports decreased to 33%, while over the past three years, the volume of Russian gas supplies has almost halved – by 47%.
