To the City Day: Ashgabat on paintings

The capital of Turkmenistan, where new ultramodern buildings, transport interchanges, and architectural structures, built according to modern standards of urban planning, appear every year, is preparing for the celebration of the City Day.
The State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan has opened its doors for guests who want to get acquainted with the developing infrastructure of the city through painting. The urban landscapes of Turkmen artists through the prism of a creative look allow us to trace how Ashgabat, the city of love, is being transformed and flourishes.
The white city, spread out against the backdrop of the Kopet Dag mountains, is extraordinarily surprising and beautiful. Through the eyes of artists who lived here in different years, Ashgabat appears expressive and vibrant, claiming to be one of the best and most stunning capitals of the world. The canvases of Annadurdy Almammedov, Gennady Babikov, Inga Pavlovskaya and many other masters of painting tell and show us how a large administrative center of the country grows from a once small town.
Ashgabat will celebrate its 140th anniversary next year, but despite its age, the city remains forever young. The picturesque chronicle of the capital of Turkmenistan, the year of foundation of which is considered to be 1881, tells how the city and the people living in it looked in different time periods.
Today, the native Ashgabat people, who know every corner of the city, grew up among narrow streets and small parks, admit that their native and beloved city has been transformed beyond recognition. And therefore, if it happens to leave Turkmenistan, many miss the beauties of Ashgabat. And how not to get bored? Here, an oriental fairy tale harmoniously fits into the interior of modern space, chic fountains playing with colorful spray in the sun - not a mirage, but a real reality.
So many recognizable sights have been built in the capital over the years of independence! Mosques and unique museums, the highest flagpole with the national flag and the Olympic town, which has already become part of modern history, because in 2017, athletes - participants of Asian games from around the world competed in this sports complex.
Ashgabat is a fairy tale worth visiting. In addition, the city is listed in the Guinness Book of Records due to the huge number of white-marble buildings. And many tour operators have already put the capital of Turkmenistan on the list of obligatory excursion pilgrimage.
Another good reason to visit Ashgabat is the Turkmen carpets. Recently, they are inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. And the Turkmen carpet-weavers will soon celebrate their professional holiday - Carpet Day, and therefore they are the main guests at the exhibition dedicated to City Day.
Carpet workers thanked the organizers of the exhibition for the invitation, talked about their work and shared their impressions about how today the traditional carpet pattern fits in the design of Ashgabat new buildings.
