India is to partially resume domestic flights
Domestic flights in India will begin to gradually resume as of May 25, after more than two months after cancellation. This was declared by Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri.
- The activities of civil aviation inside the country will resume on Monday, May 25, 2020 in an adjusted form, the minister said, while emphasizing that country’s all airports and air carriers have already been notified of this decision.
Indian authorities have suspended international and domestic commercial passenger flights from March 23 amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the cancellation of flights did not affect return flights for Indian citizens from abroad, as well as cargo transportation.
According to the country’s Ministry of Health, 106 750 coronavirus infected persons have been identified in India to date.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously called upon the authorities of all regions to ensure compliance with strict isolation from March 25 to April 14. The duration of the restrictions was extended three times, the last time - until May 31 inclusive.
