The participants of the rally-marathon Silk Way Moscow-Xian, which started on July 7, reached the territory of Kazakhstan. The route of the transcontinental marathon runs through the territory of three countries: Russia, Kazakhstan and China. An epic sporting journey, consisting of 14 stages, will be completed on July 22. In spite of its name, the Silk Way Rally for the most of its history was held on the territory of Russia. The first edition of this race that connected Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan took place in 2009. The race was not held in 2014 and 2015 for financial reasons. Last year, China joined the project that was reflected on the name and specifics of the races, which became a rally-marathon. This year, the finish point was moved from Beijing to Xian, the origin of the Great Silk Road in ancient times. The total length of the route is 9,599 kilometers. 90 crews (off-road cars and trucks) are participating in the rally-marathon. French crews - Peugeot lead in the car category and Martin Kolomna (Tatra) – in the truck category. According to experts, in the steppes of Kazakhstan and the Gobi Desert, where the air temperature is higher than 50°C, the crews and equipment are expected to face serious trials and exciting rivalry.
