Courses on the System of National Accounts started in Ashgabat

Within the framework of the joint project of the government of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Program “Strengthening the Institutional and Technical Capacity of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics”, online courses on the system of national accounts (2008 SNA) have been launched. The training program is intended for employees of relevant ministries and departments of the country, in particular, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the State Statistics Committee and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
The goal of online training is to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of institutions in the transition to the 2008 SNA. During 4 days, observers will get acquainted with the international standards in the field of 2008 SNA, master the scope of application of various indicators of this system and learn about the information capabilities of its macroeconomic elements.
The trainings are conducted by Olga Obraztsova, a specialist in the analysis of macroeconomic processes and a Professor at the Russian State Social University (RSSU). In addition to lectures, participants will also have practical classes that will help to solidify the knowledge gained.
According to experts, the SNA conversion is a revolution in the country’s economic statistics. The use of this system is necessary for effective macroeconomic policy of the state and economic forecasting.
The economy carries out a huge number of different operations – goods are produced and services are rendered, wages are paid, raw materials, equipment are purchased, etc. In order to facilitate the analysis of the economic process and identify the results of economic development, it is necessary to make the information more compact and regular. The SNA sets out the principles for such information format. It contains data on all entities involved in the economic process, as well as all economic transactions.
The second stage of online training is scheduled for June this year.
