Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will firmly stand the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War. This is stated in a joint article published in The Washington Times by Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov, Charge d'Affaires of Belarus Dmitry Basik, heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan Zhavlon Vakhabov, Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Armenia Varuzhan Nersesyan, Turkmenistan Mered Orazov, Kyrgyzstan Bolot Otunbayev and Tajikistan Farhod Salim. “75 years ago, representatives of the United Nations saved the world from a terrible threat - Nazism. The peoples of the USSR, having shown unprecedented heroic resistance, not only survived in a terrible battle with the enemy during the Great Patriotic War, but they also secured a peaceful future for the next generations at the cost of tens of millions of lives”, diplomats pointed out. “In the victorious 1945, the world looked with admiration and sincere gratitude at the liberating soldiers. Our common duty is to preserve and firmly stand the historical truth about those events, honor and transmit through generations the memory of the lessons and victims of World War II, all those who fought Nazism and fascism for the sake of independence, saving entire countries and peoples from enslavement and destruction, respect human dignity, celebrate the ideals of freedom and equality”, the article emphasizes. “These days we commemorate the fallen, thank and wish many years of life to the veterans of the allied Soviet and American armies, the workers of the home front, all those who earned this victory, a common holiday for our peoples,” the text reads. “In the 21st century, they are an example of dedication, fraternity in arms and cooperation for a higher purpose”.
