Oil giant Aramco and other Saudi companies intend to invest in Turkmenistan
The Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia said on Wednesday that Turkmenistan represents an investment interest for Saudi companies such as the oil giant Aramco, which is considering investing in oil and gas around the world, Reuters reports.
"There are areas in Turkmenistan that are attractive for investment by leading Saudi companies," said Khalid al-Falih on Al Arabia, naming Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), the mining company Ma'aden and Saudi Aramco.
"Aramco is considering any opportunity for investment in oil and gas production around the world, including the Caspian Basin countries, and Turkmenistan has large reserves, especially gas," he said.
He said that the kingdom also "supports" the TAPI project - a gas pipeline that Turkmenistan builds through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.
"Exchange of experience with Saudi Aramco in the field of laying the main pipelines will be one of the areas of cooperation with Turkmenistan," said Falih, who is also chairman of the board of directors of Aramco.
