A photo exhibition on traditions of Croatia opens in Ashgabat

As part of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Croatia in Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Museum of Fine Arts hosted the photo exhibition “Intangible Heritage of the Republic of Croatia”. The exposition, consisting of photo collages, dedicated to intangible cultural heritage of the Central European state, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Matiža Dronžić, a staff member of Zagreb Ethnographic Museum, who addicted to the profession, holds an exhibition tour. Thanks to the explanations, the stands come back to life. “Here is a wonderful tradition of preparation of ginger cookies in the north of Croatia. This colorfully decorated biscuits hearts made of sweet honey is part of Croatia’s cultural heritage. They are a traditional symbol of the Croatian capital Zagreb. They are used as an ornamental gift, often given at celebrations of love such as weddings and St. Valentine’s Day. In modern times, these cookies are traditional Croatian souvenirs, Christmas tree decorations, wedding favours for guests, business gifts, and is still given as a way of showing your affection to the ones you love”.Altyn ASHYROVA
In addition to the culinary tradition, the stands tell about special music, dance and religious customs and traditions, as well as the arts and crafts of different regions of Croatia.
The exhibition runs until October 31 in the hall of the Turkmen Museum of Fine Arts. Admission is free.
