The Turkmen National Music and Drama Theater named after Mahtumkuli has hosted a concert of Golden Horn Brass, the first brass quintet of Turkey. The concert entitled “Melodies of Anatolia” became a kind of musical journey along the Great Silk Road – the program included works by French, Italian, and Turkish composers. The music of Giuseppe Verdi, Georges Bizet was surprisingly and finely intertwined with the melodies of Turkish narrators. The musicians performed the composition of the outstanding Turkmen composer Nury Halmammedov “Nar agajy” (Pomegranate Tree) with reverence and sense.Ayna BERDIYEVA
Each performance of the program was welcomed by the public with a storm of applause, which, in turn, inspired the group members with even more energy and enthusiasm. Golden Horn Brass, consisting of distinguished musicians Julian Lupu, Hüsein Çakır, Emre Berbergil, Renato Lupu (2 trumpets, a horn, a trombone, and a tuba) was founded by Begüm Gökmen in 2004 with an aim to increase the popularity and spread of brass instruments through concerts and other performance events.
The band presents the audiences a brand new sound, quite different from ordinary instrument combinations. The band plays music especially made by Turkish composers at the request of the band, as well as world- famous music, from baroque to jazz genres, adapted specifically for the group to play.
Musicians from the Turkmen National Conservatory, who performed such famous compositions as Pink Panther Theme by Henry Mancini and Turkmen Sahrasy by Nury Halmammedov, supported this style very expressively and emotionally.
