Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Iran discuss bilateral relations between countries


Head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, held a telephone conversation. During the phone talks, the parties discussed the current state and perspectives of development of bilateral cooperation between Ashgabat and Tehran and topical regional issues. Two senior diplomats of neighboring states drew special attention to the importance of joint work to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The need for rapid implementation of the agreements negotiated between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani during the telephone conversation the day before was emphasized, the Press Service of the MFA of Turkmenistan informs. It was stated that both sides would implement in the nearest future all the necessary measures to provide the high level sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary control with the aim of secure from the epidemiological point of view movement of transport and cargo through the Turkmen-Iranian border. The Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gholamabbas Arbab Khales announced the readiness of the Embassy Iran in Ashgabat to expand cooperation between the two countries in the field of health, treatment, and medicine, the IRNA News Agency reports.
