Children’s World Doctor Leonid Roshal celebrates his 87th birthday


World-known pediatrician, surgeon and public figure Leonid Mikhailovich Roshal celebrated his 87th birthday. Russian President Vladimir Putin conferred the title of Hero of Labor on him for his services to the state and the people.
Leonid Roshal is a professor, doctor of medical sciences, the creator of a scientific school for the development of conservative methods of treating surgical diseases of the chest and abdominal cavity in children that earlier required surgical interference. The doctor wrote more than 215 scientific works, and also has eight copyright certificates for inventions.
Dr. Roshal participated in helping children after the earthquake in Armenia, Georgia, Algeria, India, Japan, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, as well as during military conflicts in Yugoslavia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Over the years of his life, Roshal managed to become famous in many countries, and in 1996 the media called him “Children’s Doctor of the World”.
For more than 20 years, Roshal has been working in the healthcare system of the Moscow Region. From 2011 to the present, he is the chief non-staff children’s pulmonologist at the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region. Since 2003, he has been Director of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology in Moscow.
