US special peace envoy in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has urged conflicting leaders of the country to set disputes aside and to unite in struggle against the coronavirus , to advance the at a deadlock peace agreement signed in the beginning of this year with the Taliban, as informs afghanistantoday.ru. «Well-being of the Afghani people and the country depends on all parties which make all possible efforts for struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, common enemy of all», - Zalmay Khalilzad stated. As he said, president of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and his opponent Abdullah Abdullah, each of whom announced himself winner in the September elections, should «put interests of the country above his own» during the sacred month of Ramadan for Moslems which has begun last week. He called the government and Taliban to carry an exchange of captured which was a part of the peace agreement between the USA and "Taliban", signed in February. The agreement provided release of 5000 imprisoned Taliban and 1000 civil servants kept by the "Taliban". The authorities of Afghanistan have released 550 prisoners on the basis of age and vulnerability to the virus. Taliban released 60 prisoners, remind the mass-media. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated on Sunday that the "Taliban" carries out the part of the agreement and is ready to carry on negotiations for cease-fire all over the country at the Intra-Afghani negotiations. These negotiations should begin within 10 days after agreement which was signed on February 29, but was postponed because of political disagreements in Kabul.
