Uzbekistan launches high-speed freight train to Afghanistan

Uzbekistan Railways Company organized regular scheduled movement of a high-speed freight train to Afghanistan, the Uzbek media reports.
The train departs from Tashkent and arrives in the border city of Hairatan in northern Afghanistan. “A part of the freight train is formed in the capital and is supplemented by wagons formed in the regions along the route,” the Uzbek company said in a press release. According to the rail carrier, previously, a cargo from Tashkent reached Afghanistan within 5-6 days. A new high-speed freight train can deliver goods from Tashkent to Hairatan station in 2 days. The train runs three times a week.
