Ministry of Labor of Turkmenistan invites social workers


As part of the joint program between the Government of Turkmenistan with the UN “Improving the social protection system through the introduction of inclusive quality social services at the community level”, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population announces the recruitment of social workers. The program, funded by the SDG Fund, is aimed to improve the existing system of social services in Turkmenistan.
Candidates must have higher or secondary vocational education in social work, medical or pedagogical education, as well as possess such qualities as communication skills, desire to work with people and help them.
Candidates are required to send personal files (personal information of a standard form, extract from a diploma) to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population or e-mail to: mlsp@online.tm by May 8. Interviews with candidates will be held on May 19-22.
45 social workers, selected from all regions of the country, will be trained in the basics of social work under the guidance of international experts and master professional practice. Social workers will work in the cities of Ashgabat, Tejen, Balkanabat, Turkmenbashi, Hazar, Dashoguz, Turkmenabat, Mary and Bayramali, as well as in the districts of Ak Bugday, Tejen, Gorogly, named after S.A. Niyazov, Farap, Bayramali, Vekilbazar.
They will supervise the pilot social work projects at the community level and provide a new model of inclusive social services based on the empowerment of users. In particular, specialists will conduct interviews and consultations, carry out regular visits to the wards’ locations, and assess their needs and availability to existing social benefits.
The implementation of the program would be another step towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as create the necessary platform for transforming the health, education and social services delivery model.
