Turkmenistan joins European Immunization Week

The European Immunization Week, held by the World Health Organization to promote the importance of immunization for disease prevention, will last until April 26th.
Turkmenistan also joined the European Immunization Week. It should be noted that the country continues to implement its routine immunization program, ensuring universal vaccination coverage.
Since 2001, the government has fully funded the procurement of vaccines through UNICEF, which are provided free of charge in accordance with the national immunization schedule. The government allocated an additional $ 17 million to purchase three new vaccines against rotavirus and pneumococcal infections, as well as hepatitis A. Turkmenistan was awarded the UNICEF award for maintaining high immunization rates for children in the country as part of the government-funded National Immunization Program.
Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent outbreaks of dangerous diseases. Therefore, today, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than ever, it is important to know about the benefits of vaccines and the risks associated with the lack of vaccination.
UNICEF's country office in Turkmenistan reminds parents of the importance of immunizing children, especially at an early stage in life. During this period, they are most vulnerable to disease. If the vaccine is given at an early stage, the child’s immune system will be ready to overcome these diseases.
It is also important to adhere to the immunization schedule because it is designed by scientists and experts who have studied the best time to get the vaccine for children.
