The holy for all Muslims of the world month of Oraza (Ramadan) begins in Turkmenistan tomorrow.
An ORIENT correspondent was informed at the Muftiat of Turkmenistan that a 30-day fast begins for Muslims of the country from the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the country’s Muftiat, as of today evening, a special collective prayer “taravih-namazy” will be said in all mosques, which will be repeated every evening until May 23. Taravih is the desirable prayer (namaz-sunnah), which begins as of the first night of the holy month and ends on the last night of the Ramadan fasting. Taravih namaz symbolizes the holy month of Oraza, unity, friendship and inspiration.
The Muftiat of Turkmenistan approved the calendar of suhoor and Iftar (morning and evening meals) during the Ramadan fasting of 2020 for all five regions of Turkmenistan and the city of Ashgabat. At the end of the 30-day fasting on May 24 this year the Oraza Holiday will be celebrated throughout the country.
Gadyr Gijesi - the night from May 19 to 20, considered the Night of Forgiveness and Omnipotence has a special meaning during Oraza. For the Turkmen people, Oraza not only marks everlasting spiritual values such as moral purity, mercy and humanity, but it also embodies the unchangeable commitment to the high humanistic ideals of their ancestors.
