Trump discussed the situation in Afghanistan with the Emir of Qatar
US President Donald Trump discussed with Emir of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani by telephone issues related to combating coronavirus and settlement with the Taliban movement, the message of the White House says. “The President and the Emir discussed the response to coronavirus in the United States and Qatar. The President called on the Emir to take steps towards resolving the conflict in the Gulf in order to work jointly to combat the virus, minimize economic consequences and focus on the most important regional issues”, the statement reads. Trump thanked the Emir of Qatar for his efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan. In addition, the leaders admitted the importance for the Taliban movement to reduce violence, and resuming the negotiations to release prisoners, the White House reported.
