The President of Afghanistan has assured that the situation with the coronavirus in the country is supervised

The Afghan government has taken all necessary measures after the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the country to provide a control over the virus at initial stages. The president of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani stated it in his video message to citizens of the country. «We will begin consultations with the international organisations of public health services concerning delivery of the help promised to Afghanistan by various countries and organisations to control the coronavirus», - Ghani informed. He also stated that quarantine is now a conventional norm for further containment of spread of the virus. Thereupon the president urged all Afghans to stay at home and to avoid unnecessary meetings and trips. The total number of known cases of death from COVID-19 in Afghanistan has reached 32, the quantity of infected - 993, 131 persons have recovered, as the Afghani mass-media highlights.

India has transferred to Afghanistan the medical aid to combat the coronavirus.

The Indian medical aid for control of the coronavirus has been provided to the Ministry of Health of Afghanistan by the ambassador of India in Kabul, as the Avapress Afghani news agency informs. The humanitarian aid of India, including 500 000 tablets of hydroxychloroquine and 100 000 tablets of paracetamol have been given during the ceremony in which Ministers of Health and National Defence of Afghanistan and the ambassador of India in Kabul participated. According to the Hindu, the Indian vessel carried out transportation of the humanitarian aid for Afghanistan through the Iranian port Chabahar. The ship also carried the first consignment of wheat - more than 5 thousand tons of wheat. In total India plans to give Afghanistan 75 thousand tons of wheat which will be sent the next weeks. The given humanitarian aid has been directed to Afghanistan within the frameworks in the regional strategy of India for containment of the coronavirus. It is also the first case of use by India the transport corridor through the Iranian port Chabahar for transfer of the humanitarian aid. In May, 2016 Iran, India and Afghanistan signed the agreement on creation of the transport corridor through the port of Chabahar. India considered the given corridor as a trading route to Afghanistan and Central Asia. It is also informed that China and Uzbekistan have sent large parties of medicines and disinfectants to Afghanistan.

In Kabul the driving of motorcycles and scooters has been banned.

In the meantime, the authorities of Kabul have banned use of motorcycles and motor scooters in the Afghani capital to control criminality. It is informed that these two-wheeled vehicles are very popular both among the Taliban and usual criminals. The ban which came into force on Wednesday was adopted after a number of attacks of the armed people on motorcycles. The ban on motorcycles were earlier are entered in some other parts of Afghanistan, but this was the first ban in the capital. The exception is made for workers of delivery of goods, for which now is a great demand in connection with the quarantine in Kabul.
