Austrian cultural spaces including museums and libraries can reopen for visitors from mid-May as part of a gradual loosening of the coronavirus lockdown, the country’s government said. Austria took a first step in relaxing its month-old coronavirus pandemic restrictions on April 14 by letting smaller shops up to 400 square meters and garden centres reopen. The Austrian government says the action it took early in the outbreak and the fact infections are increasing by less than 1% a day make it possible to reopen parts of the economy, but it will make adjustments if infections accelerate, Reuters informs. The larger shops and hairdressers should follow from May 1 in Austria.
