A number of industrial enterprises will resume work from April 20 in Kazakhstan


From April 20, 2020, the work of industrial and construction enterprises, as well as certain areas of the service sector, will be resumed in the Kazakh cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reports.
This decision was made during the next meeting of the State Commission on ensuring the state of emergency under the President of Kazakhstan, chaired by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin.
The State Commission, taking into account the position of the Ministry of Health, on the basis of the proposals of the akims, decided to gradually resume the work of business entities in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, while maintaining strict sanitary and epidemiological measures.
A specific list of activities of enterprises that will resume work in Nur-Sultan and Almaty as part of the first stage will be approved by the State Commission on April 15 this year.
In turn, Mamin instructed to establish tight control over ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety at facilities that will resume work, as well as over maintaining the social distance of employees at workplaces.
By the decision of the State Commission on ensuring the state of emergency under the President of Kazakhstan, on March 19, 2020, a quarantine regime was introduced in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty.
At the moment, the quarantine regime has been introduced in most regions and large cities of Kazakhstan.
The first two cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Kazakhstan on March 13th. Citizens who returned from Germany were urgently placed in a medical facility in the city of Almaty. According to the latest data, the total number of coronavirus infected in Kazakhstan is 979 people.
Earlier in Kazakhstan, by decree of President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, a state of emergency was introduced for the period from March 16 to April 15, 2020 in connection with the announcement by WHO of the situation with the coronavirus pandemic.
On April 10, Tokaev announced the need to extend the period of emergency in the country until the end of April.
In January-March 2020, Kazakhstan's economy grew by 2.7%. This was announced by Prime Minister Askar Mamin at a government meeting, during which the results of the country's socio-economic development and the budget for the first quarter of this year were considered. At the same time, restrictions in connection with the pandemic caused a recession in the financial, transport and service sectors, Mamin stated.
