According to the Uzbek mass media, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who arrived in the capital of Uzbekistan on a working visit, discussed the areas of cooperation. It was noted that the first state visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkmenistan in March, 2017, working meetings in Avaza and Astana as well as regular contacts of the leaders of the two countries had brought the Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation up to a qualitatively new level. The enterprises of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan successfully implement the joint foreign trade contracts and agreements amounted to more than USD 200 million. The Uzbek agricultural equipment producer “Uzagrotekhsanoatholding” opened the Technology Centre in Ashgabat this spring. The Economic Association “Turkmen-UzAWTO” was established in Turkmenistan. The new enterprise specializes in the sale and maintenance service of vehicles, produced in Uzbekistan, as well as agricultural machinery and equipment. It is planned to open an enterprise on assembling Uzbek agricultural machinery in Turkmenistan. The Trade and Service Centre is opening in Ashgabat in July, and the rolling equipment of the Turkmen railways is being renovated and modernized on the basis of the JSC “Uzbekiston Temir Yollari”. The volumes of transit traffic between the two countries have significantly increased due to the Turkmenabat-Farab automobile and railway bridges opened recently. The countries develop cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. Currently, Tashkent is working on the creation of the Ashgabat Park, and Uzbek athletes are preparing for the participation in the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in the Turkmen capital in September this year.
